Constantly informing the public of the top charts in the music industry, the Billboard Music Awards was held on May 21st, hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and Ludacris.

The annual awards ceremony gives the top musical artists a chance to be recognized and awarded for their feats in the music industry within the year. Some of the categories are top artist, top new artist, top male and female artists, top duo/group and top social artist. There are many more categories that exist, but not all are televised.

Many students at Saint John’s were excited to see the results, hoping their favorite artists win their nominated award. Drake won 13 awards, including top artist.

Braeden Ferrone in Mr. Brian Mariano’s seventh grade class said, “I like Drake because he is not hyped up or slowed down; his music is chill.”

Many artists topping the charts are continuously creating new, great music for the world to listen to and continue to inspire people globally.
