On December 15th, 1995, the original Jumanji movie was released and immediately became a classic. It became a well known film for people of all ages to enjoy. The original film was directed by Joe Johnston, with the famous actor, Robin Williams. Robin Williams was in a total of 68 films, such as Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire. However, in December, a new film was made to make a continuation of the famous movie that premiered in 1995. It is called Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and it is filmed from a more modern perspective. Instead of a board game coming to life like the original, the directors took a different turn on the story.

Taylor Peters from Mrs. Amy Jones’s eighth grade class, stated, “It was super funny; I couldn’t stop laughing. I liked it a lot.”

The new version of Jumanji shows a group of four high school students who discover an old video game console and are drawn to its jungle theme. They end up being sucked into the game as the avatars they chose. Also, they learn that they not only have to play the game, but they also need to survive it. To complete the game and go back to the real world, they must survive the most dangerous journey they have ever been on. Throughout the movie, they figure out how to master the skills of their avatar and work together to meet the common goal of defeating the game.

Luca Repetti, a student in Lauren Logan’s fifth grade class, said, “It was so funny. I laughed at literally every part. I liked the new Jumanji more than the original because it is a lot more funny.”

The director of the new film is Jake Kasden. Some of the cast includes Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, Jack Black, Kevin Heart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas.
