Saint John School held the Blessing of The Animals ceremony on  Thursday, October. 4. The ceremony was held in the lower traffic circle from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Grades 4-8 began at 9:00 a.m. and Prescholers-3rd graders began at 9:20. Parents came to the ceremony and met students for the blessing lead by Father Kibaki. Students whose pets couldn’t make it were able to bring pictures of their pets.

The blessing of animals is a Franciscan tradition celebrated on October 4th, when it is customary for all Anglican and Catholic churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals in remembrance of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, Italy, and nature.

Andy Orozco in Mr. Brian Mariano’ class brought his dog, Copper, to be blessed. Andy said, “The blessing of the animals was good, I saw different pets.” Sienna Black from Mr. Mariano’s class who did not bring a pet said, “Even though I didn’t bring a pet, I had fun seeing cute animals.”

Overall, this was a truly special ceremony that even if you didn’t bring a pet, it was great.
