During this eighth-grade year, many of the students are deciding and debating to whether which High School they will be attending. This is a huge milestone in the students lives. Some of the eighth grade’s choices include Cathedral Catholic High School, La Costa Canyon High School, San Dieguito Academy, Our Lady of Peace, Torrey Pines High School, Sage Creek, Mission Vista, and San Marcos High School.   

According to a survey of three eighth graders, 49 percent of students will be attending Cathedral Catholic high school, 15 percent of students will be attending La Costa Canyon high school, 11 percent of students will be attending San Dieguito Academy, 1 percent of students will be attending Our Lady of Peace, 5 percent will be attending Sage Creek, 1 percent will be attending San Marcos high school, 4% will be attending Saint Augustine high school, 1 percent will be attending Mission Vista, 1 percent will be attending Torrey Pines high school, and 12 percent are undecided. The deadline for high school registration is March 20th. Cathedral Catholic high school took the entrance exam on January 26. 

Leila Chehade also from Mrs. Jenae Smith’s eighth grade class, who is going to Our Lady of Peace said, “It has a really nice campus and I like an all-girl environment.” 

Tanner Castellanos from Mrs. Smith’s, who is going to Torrey Pines said, “I want to go because it is convenient.” 

Oliver Trojanowski from Mrs. Amy Jones class, who is going to Mission Vista said, I am going to Mission Vista because it is close to my house. 

Throughout the whole eighth grade, Cathedral Catholic high school is the most popular high school with 49 percent of the 51 students attending. La Costa Canyon is the second most popular school with 15 percent of 51 students attending. 

 High school is a very important decision and starts a new period in your life. The next four years change everything. There are many great high school options, but you only get one choice. These high schools are unique in their own way and are preparing the students for the future.
