The eighth-graders from Mrs. Jenea Smith’s homeroom won the 2019 Spring Sing with a performance of “Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’” from Teen Beach Movie.

The annual spring sing featuring sixth, seventh and eighth-grade classes was held on April 2 at the Saint John School parish hall. For the daytime performance held for students, the judges were Miss Feather Gentry, Director of Learning Support, Ms. Kimberly Vangol from learning support, and the new music teacher, Mrs. Khrisha Blackwell. For the nighttime performance attended by parents, the judges were Mrs. Karen Klenk, Faith in Action and math teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Paranio, art teacher, and Mrs. Courtney.

The six classes competed for first, second or third place. Normally there isn’t a tie, but some years like the 2018 spring sing there was a tie. This year, first place went to the 8S homeroom. The class that won second place was Mrs. Gena Heins’ 7H with“Under the Sea”fromThe Little Mermaid. The class that won third was 6N with “You’re Welcome” from Moana.

Mrs. Paranio said that judging in Spring Sing “was extremely fun. I really enjoyed 8S’ performance. I really liked to see all the time, effort, and hard work come together in this event. I would love to be the judge again, and I can’t wait for next year’s Spring Sing.”
